Charlie Cox on What The Red & Yellow Suit Will Mean to the Fans

Charlie addresses what the yellow and red suit will mean to the fans of DAREDEVIL.

Daredevil’s Charlie Cox Knew What the Gold and Red Suit Would Mean to Fans

Charlie Cox shares his emotional response to learning he would be wearing an iconic Daredevil costume in She-Hulk, knowing how fans would react.

Daredevil himself, Charlie Cox, revealed he knows exactly what the gold and red suit would mean to fans the moment he saw the designs.

Cox shared in an interview with Rotten Tomatoes at D23 that he first saw the new outfit when he was preparing to play Matt Murdock/Daredevil for the first time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. His MCU debut, which was a cameo appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home where Matt Murdock served as Peter Parker’s lawyer, did not call for a new Daredevil costume, but he is set to appear as the vigilante in an upcoming episode of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. “So I had to go to LA to have a fitting, and I walk in – I can say this now – I walk in. I knew I wasn’t going to wear it in [Spider-Man: No Way Home], I knew that much, but whilst we were doing Spider-Man we were getting ready to do She-Hulk, and so I got to go to LA to a fitting, and I walk in and the suit is hanging there. But then there’s a drawing on the wall and it has the gold and red.”

Cox shared that he instantly knew that that version of the costume would mean a lot to fans. “And I was like ‘no way,'” Cox laughed. “It’s funny because when you play the character this long, it’s like you’re emotionally connected to the fans’ response. So you see something like that and it means something to you, because you know what it means – what it’s going to mean,” he said.

Cox has been playing Daredevil since 2015, with a brief break between 2018, when Daredevil was canceled by Netflix, and his MCU debut in 2021. “Like, you start to have a sense of how people are going to respond to that. So I saw that, and then they come in with that, and I’m like ‘aw man, this is unreal’.”

The MCU is set to keep Cox busy for the next few years, as he will follow up his guest appearances in No Way Home and She-Hulk with the Echo series in 2023, and the Disney+ reboot of Daredevil, subtitled Born Again, which is set to premiere in 2024. He will also lend his voice to the animated series Spider-Man: Freshman Year.

New episodes of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law are streaming on Disney+ every Thursday.

“Spider-Man: No Way Home” HD Screencaps

Here is Charlie’s one scene in SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME that guaranteed Matt Murdock and Daredevil would be continuing within the Marvel Universe. I love this scene and thought I’d use the brick-catch as the featured image. Welcome back Matt Murdock and welcome back Charlie Cox. I wasn’t able to go and see this in the theatre due to my unvaccinated status during the COVID virus, but I heard when the cane came on screen there were tons of screams.

Tom Holland Had “So Much Fun” Working With Charlie

Tom Holland, star of SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME had a lot of fun working with Charlie during the latter’s cameo in the successful film. Tom had this to say about Charlie:

Spider-Man: No Way Home’s Tom Holland Responds to Netflix Star’s Surprise Cameo

Spider-Man: No Way Home features a surprise cameo from a beloved Netflix star, and Tom Holland thinks it’s ‘awesome.’

Recently premiering in theaters, Spider-Man: No Way Home brought with it plenty of big surprises. One character return, in particular, has been getting a lot of attention, and Tom Holland himself has weighed in. If you wish to avoid Spider-Man: No Way Home SPOILERS then please, look away now.

Spider-Man: No Way Home lead Tom Holland has at last opened up about one of the many surprise cameos featured in the epic MCU outing. Namely, the return of Netflix’s Daredevil star Charlie Cox, who appears in the movie as alter ego Matt Murdock to help Holland’s Peter Parker out of a legal jam. In a discussion with Marvel.com, Holland described working with Cox as “tho,” and loved teaming up with another superhero in a more down-to-earth style scene.

“We had so much fun working with Charlie. It’s really interesting doing a scene between two Super Heroes that has no real Super Hero stuff in it. Apart from the bit when he catches the brick. It was awesome.”

While the scene does not include MJ, Zendaya revealed that she had been present on set to watch events unfold adding, “I didn’t get to be there….I was there for the behind-the-scenes watching you guys. But I didn’t get to be in it.” Holland clearly loved the opportunity to work with the Daredevil star concluding, “But it was great. I loved working with Charlie.”

There have been rumors surrounding Charlie Cox’s role in Spider-Man: No Way Home for some time now, with the cameo in question featuring Cox sharing the screen with Holland’s Peter Parker, as well as Aunt May and Happy Hogan. Holland had teased Cox’s triumphant return in the past, and while he played coy, many guessed that it would include Matt Murdock. “It’s four people sitting at a table, having a conversation about what it’s like to be a superhero, and it was amazing,” Holland said. “The other day we watched the scene, my brother and I, and our jaws were on the floor.” No doubt many audience members had the same reaction.

Like so many other stars of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Charlie Cox has denied his involvement multiple times over the past several months. “I hadn’t heard those rumors, but it’s certainly not with my Daredevil. I’m not involved in it,” Cox said of his rumored involvement back in September. “If that’s true, it’s not with me. It’s with another actor. As a fan of the Marvel movies, I’ve loved the little stuff where they pop up here and there but because we were on Netflix, we weren’t able to do as much for legal reasons, I don’t know why. But I love the idea of Jessica and Matt showing up in the background or Matt as a lawyer advising Peter Parker. That’d be really, really cool.” It’s likely that no one will ever believe another word he says.

Charlie Cox’s comeback also gives weight to other Daredevil-related rumors that have been floating around, including the recent leak which allegedly reveals a casting grid confirming that a Marvel Daredevil project is indeed now in early development.

Spider-Man: No Way Home finds Peter Parker asking Doctor Strange to help make his identity as Spider-Man a secret following its public revelation, which leads to the multiverse being unleashed, and was released on December 17, 2021.
